Issue 38: Spectacle
Corinna Berndt is a Melbourne-based artist working across multiple mediums, including sculpture, collage and video.
Specific to her practice is the digital image as an experimental space for exploring perceived and imagined occurrences. Working predominantly with digital media, her practice investigates the tension between corporeal and digital experiences, often exploring interactions between objects and bodies on screen.
Corinna is currently a PHD candidate at the University of Melbourne. Her research is concerned with how cyber myths of the past might parallel and construct contemporary hopes and fears relating to communication, technology, subjectivity and the limits of the body.
Corinna has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and has recently completed a Master of Fine Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne.
She has exhibited her work at project spaces and galleries in Melbourne and interstate, including at West Space, Anna Pappas Gallery, C3 Contemporary Art Space and Felt Space. Her work was recently featured as part of MCA ARTBAR at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia in Sydney and it was included in the 2017 Hobiennale, Tasmania.
