Issue 27: Outside
A selection of garden rocks are collected from a kerbside of Perth via Gumtree, having been coloured a very unnatural peach/pink and used for a previous artwork they sit uselessly in my front yard, so for this series of photographs they have been taken back to the suburban verges as they were collected, titled ‘They’re not beautiful, perhaps better for infill’.
Since completing studies in Visual Arts at Tafe in 2010, Rebecca has been involved in group exhibitions and projects in artist run spaces, galleries and in her previous home in Maylands – a collaboration in 2013, with friend and fellow artist Anna Dunnill, where a new body of work was shown in the domestic environment. Upon graduating, she was selected to exhibit in ‘Hatched’ – a national survey of emerging artists at Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts. Last year saw her first solo exhibition at Free Range Gallery, titled ‘Sometimes, it’s second nature’. She has experience in self-publishing her work in the form of zines and catalogues. Rebecca also co-runs ‘Pouring Dream’ – a small music label run from her home in Perth, and is half of the duo ‘Erasers’.
