Runway is looking for 4 new board members for 2016!

Applicants based interstate, in regional NSW or overseas are welcome to apply. Deadline for applications, 6 November 2015.

Runway Australian Experimental Art is an online journal produced by The Invisible Inc., an artist run initiative that aims to promote the activities of Australian artists, both nationally and abroad. The Invisible Inc. is a collective of local and internationally-based Australian visual artists, curators and writers engaged in individual and collaborative projects across a broad range of disciplines. Primarily based in Sydney, Runway is positioned as an Australian experimental art journal with both national and international reach. The Invisible Inc. aims to facilitate the production, development and dissemination of Australian contemporary art practice that is critically engaged and openly experimental. In addition to Runway’s publishing activity, The Invisible Inc. also undertakes collaborative projects, runs events and supports an annual artist commissioning program.

We are developing some new publishing, fundraising and marketing activities in 2016 and need help in the following areas:

  • Social Media and Marketing
  • Archiving and Website Management
  • Membership and Fundraising
  • Finance and Monthly Accounts

You can expect to spend around 3 hours each week on Runway work and, in addition, are expected to attend monthly board meetings (by Skype is fine). As a volunteer board member, we are looking for a 1 year commitment, and in the process you will get to work with clever people and develop some serious skills in publishing and arts administration. If you have the time and want to do your bit for emerging and experimental art practice, we’d like to hear from you.

We’re looking for four distinct roles, but the very nature of Runway means we all help out across various areas, especially for new issues.

The Social Media and Marketing Specialist will ideally have experience in:

  • Social Media marketing across several platforms
  • Sector engagement reporting for grants and acquittals
  • Print media marketing for fundraising
  • Design and image editing
  • A very good knowledge of the Australian Arts Sector
  • Preparing e-newsletters and campaigns

The Archivist and Web Manager will ideally have the following skills:

  • Experience working with archiving
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Design and image editing
  • Website management, especially with WordPress
  • Ideally based in Sydney to work directly with the Runway archive

The Membership and Fundraising Manager will ideally have the following skills:

  • Experience in liaising with important stakeholders
  • Successful sponsorship and philanthropy experience
  • A very good knowledge of the Australian Arts Sector
  • Ideally based in Sydney to manage events for the Runway Circle

The Assistant Treasurer will ideally have the following skills:

  • A basic understanding of accounts receivable and payable
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Some experience with accounting software
  • An understanding of budgets
  • A willingness to learn
  • Interest in the Australian Arts Sector
  • Must be based in NSW

To apply, send:

A one page CV and a paragraph about why you want to work with Runway to: eleanor@runway.org.au

Please make it clear which role you are most interested in.

Deadline: 6 November 2015
