Celeste Stein is an architecture graduate and artist. She works in drawing; using sculpture, video and installation as an extension of her practice. Her work is heavily influenced by her architectural background and skills. She works with 3D modelling software, CAD programs, and fabrication methods such as laser and CNC cutting. She is also interested in self-publishing, zines, and accessible forms of art, such as risograph. She enjoys making poetic work, often interweaving text and maintaining intimate subject matter. During the pandemic, she is mostly interested in drawing comics and writing letters.
Celeste’s recent solo exhibition at Kudos Gallery; Posters for a friend’s bedroom interrogates what it means to produce for the result of giving away. The works were made for loved ones, intended to hang in a fictional bedroom as blessings of friendship and forces of protection.
A visual poem - the work details a protagonist's movement toward a horizon of self-appreciation. This comic captures an ever-shifting daydream and inner monologue.
