Victoria Lawson has curated and participated in numerous solo, collaborative and group exhibitions both locally and overseas. In 2014 she graduated with a PhD. Visual Arts in sculpture, performance and installation at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney, where she was also awarded a University Postgraduate Scholarship (2007–2010). She has performed a number of embodied interventions including, Beware of the gap before boarding (2011–2014). She has exhibited in exhibitions such as: Post-tourist, Kings ARI, Melbourne (2015), The nonevent entitled: The People are Revolting (bare life), Magnetic Island (2013), Performing the Digital, Inflight Gallery, 2010; and during 2008, THISISCURATING1 – 40…for Firstdraft Gallery, Sydney. Upcoming is Dream Merchant for the Broken Hill Regional Gallery (2016), which was also exhibited at Mosman Art Gallery (2015) and the Blacktown Arts Centre (2008–2009); in 2007 she exhibited in the solo exhibition Walking to Work, Series III, Brunswick Street for QCP, Brisbane; in 2006: +Plus Factors at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art; Our Investment at the Queensland Centre for Photography. She was a recent participant in Raqs Media Collective’s Time Symposium at the Institude of Modern Art, Brisbane (2015). In 2008–2009 she was Artist in Residence at the Obras Art Foundation, Evoramonte, Portugal. She also completed a six months Artist’s Residency at St Andrew’s Cathedral School, Sydney (2008). Born in Home Hill, North Queensland, Lawson currently lives and works in Brisbane.
