Matthew Hopkins

Matthew Hopkins (b. 1978) is a Sydney based artist whose work examines the relationship between various visual forms and sound. Hopkins’s practice involves various sound and music projects, as well as a visual arts practice that incorporates painting, drawing, objects, video, and text based work. An ongoing interest for Hopkins is how sound, particularly processed voice, might be seen as grotesque and liminal in nature, and in turn how this sound might function as an axis point which connects image and sound through absurd, often alogical methods.
