Lia McKnight is a Perth based artist whose practice spans installation, sculpture, drawing and photomedia. Considering the interrelationship between object and viewer as a dynamic exchange, her practice centers around concepts of transience, existentialism and the malleability of perception. Her current works are fundamentally sensorial and often engage with phenomenology. Having worked on numerous projects in converted historical buildings, as well as temporary public art commissions, her interests extend to the architecture, memory and specific character of existing spaces.
McKnight is also an arts administrator, writer and curator. Privileging lived experience and emotional geographies as areas of intrigue, her experiential focus has extended to her curatorial projects and published texts which have sought to speculate on the shifting parameters of identity and context. Current projects include a solo exhibition at C3 Contemporary Art Space in Melbourne and a collaborative project at leading Perth ARI Paper Mountain.
