Greer Rochford was born in Sydney, Australia in 1984. She studied photography, communications and journalism before undertaking a Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in photography. In 2012 she completed a Masters of Visual Arts at Sydney College of the Arts after submitting her thesis In Search of Jetzeit: Between the still and the moving image, where she explored the dialectical relationship between cinema and photography, and the liminal space that exists between the still and moving image.
Greers’ practice moves between video and photography with a particular interest in early photographic processes, the origins of cinema and the consequences of our increasingly technologically reliant existence. She has an affinity for analogue photography and is in the process of archiving her negatives and slides. She has exhibited both in Sydney and New York and has a solo show opening at 107 Projects in Redfern in September.
