Frances Barrett

Frances Barrett is an artist, curator, and broadcaster whose work takes the form of body-based live actions, collaborative projects, and curatorial projects. Her work is informed by queer and feminist methodologies. In 2015 she presented: The Wrestle (with Toby Chapman) at 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art; My Safe Word is Performance at the Australian Experimental Art Foundation; and Curator as part of Liquid Architecture. Frances participated in the Australian Artist’s Residency Program as part of Kaldor Public Art Projects, Project#30: Marina Abramovic in Residence, and facilitated Haunting at Firstdraft, a curatorial project that explored the ways in which artists use materials and narratives of the past to create ‘a world in vertigo’, producing temporal shifts that conflate the past, present, and future. She is currently Curator of Contemporary Performance at Campbelltown Arts Centre, host of FBI Radio arts show, Canvas, and member of art collaboration, Brown Council.
