Andrew Harper is an artist who works across disciplines to investigate notions of worth, value and desire. Primarily working as performance artist, he looks at repetitive activity as a way of investigating his own mental processes. His work often examines mental illness and substance abuse and he is currently working on the idea that mental illness in individuals is symptomatic of a troubled culture.
Andrew collects and repurposes objects and concepts and is interested in the use of ritual practice (be that public or private) as a cathartic tool. He once placed an empathic, non-violent curse on a former prime minister and considers much of his art to exist in a blurred area somewhere between DIY culture, occult ritual, the Theatre of Cruelty and experimental film.
Andrew also writes about art, organizes events and performs as a stand up comedian and a poet.
