Alexander Jackson Wyatt’s current practice is multidisciplinary and more commonly collaborative. By using photography, video, performance and installation he seeks to find alternative logics through everyday misunderstandings in the occupation of public space.
Alexander studied at the National Art School, Sydney (2007-2010) finishing with First Class Honours in Drawing. During 2011 he undertook numerous residencies in Sydney. From June 2012 he was an artist in residency in Leipzig at the SPINNEREI and received an Australia Council for the Arts grant to set up an emerging arts practice and overseas network. Since October 2012 he has been working with Armin Linke and Michael Clegg (Clegg and Guttman) as a guest at the University for Art and Design at the ZKM (Center for Art and Media Technology), Karlsruhe. He received the inaugural Emporio Armani Commission, involving subsequent residencies in Milan and an exhibition in Sydney in 2013. In July 2013 he began a collaborative residency at SUDLAB in Naples with Paulina Semkowicz. These works were included in the exhibition THE WALK at the ETH in Zurich, which was curated by Niels Olsen and Fredi Fischli.
Alexander currently works between Krakow, Vienna and Sydney.
